UN: Gaza school attack only hit civilians

Gaza! We will come!!

The United Nations has dismissed ‘Israeli' claims that its bloody attacks on schools were directed at killing Palestinians fighters. Christopher Gunness, spokesman for the UN refugee agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said with high confidence on Wednesday that there were no combatants or combative activities in the schools and school compounds targeted by ‘Israel' on Tuesday. "We are calling for an independent investigation to establish the facts," he said, calling for those who broke the rules of war to be brought to justice. 'Israeli' forces attacked three UN-run schools in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 45 civilians, most of whom were Palestinians who had taken refuge in the buildings to escape the raining ‘Israeli' fire on Gaza. 'Israeli' officials had tried to justify the incident as an attack on a militant stronghold. 'Israeli' ground forces began a full-scale invasion of Gaza on Saturday after pounding the region with airstrikes for a week. According to Tel Aviv, the war on Gaza is aimed at ending rocket attacks against ‘Israeli' settlers, toppling Hamas and preventing the resistance group from rearming. Hamas, however, demands a cessation of ‘Israeli' attacks and the opening of the Gaza border -- which has been closed due to the 18-month blockade imposed on the strip by Tel Aviv. So far the ‘Israeli' aggression has killed over 660 Palestinians, half of whom are women and children. More than 2,950 others have been wounded and many are feared to be under the rubble.

Israel maintains pressure on media

Gaza! We will come!!

Israel' bullies correspondents who cover its crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza as its war on the coastal strip enters the 12th day. 'Israeli' forces arrested a correspondent of the Arabic-language Al-Alam News Network, Khezir Shahin, reporting from the occupied Palestinian territory and took him into custody for questioning on Monday. 'Israeli' authorities claim that Shahin violated censorship rules when he reported the launch of the ‘Israeli' ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which had been banned by the ‘Israeli' military. 'Israel's' military censor has broad powers to shut down media outlets or imprison journalists to prevent the release of information deemed as security threats. "Shahin was arrested by the Zionist regime (‘Israel') to prevent broadcasting news about its brutal crimes and to convey a warning message to reporters of other media who are telling the facts and realities of the Zionists against the oppressed people in Gaza," Al-‘Alam Head Ahmad Sadat told IRNA on Tuesday. He said that the hearing, held on Tuesday, decided to extend the reporter's detention for another six days for further interrogation and added, "Three competent lawyers have been invited to investigate Shahin's case. They are now collecting information necessary to defend him," he said. According to Tel Aviv, however, the war on Gaza is aimed at ending the rocket attacks against ‘Israeli' settlers, toppling Hamas and preventing the resistance group from rearming. Hamas, on the other hand, demands a cessation of ‘Israeli' attacks and the opening of the Gaza border. The 12th day of the assault brings the number of Palestinian casualties to over 660 with nearly 3,000 wounded. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has described the attacks as "totally unacceptable." "After earlier strikes, the ‘Israeli' government was warned that its operations were endangering UN compounds," he said in a statement. "I am deeply dismayed that despite these repeated efforts, today's tragedies have ensued." In his Tuesday remarks, Al-Alam's Sadat said, "based on ‘Israeli' law, if proved guilty, Shahin will face 15-20 years imprisonment." The head of ‘Israel's' Government Press Office, Daniel Seaman, said, "Shahin was not an accredited journalist. He is not only being questioned about a simple censorship violation, but whether or not he's doing it for other purposes."

Israel bombs health care building, three mobile clinics

Gaza! We will come!!

The health care committees in Gaza reported that Israeli warplanes bombed on Tuesday their central headquarters which included a specialized medical center in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza city in addition to three mobile clinics and one ambulance. In a press statement received by the PIC, the health committees added that the bombed mobile clinics were trucks equipped with medical equipment received few months ago from a Spanish humanitarian organization. Dr. Nihad Al-Akhras, the head of the union of health care committees, said that the Israeli air raids on medical facilities in the Gaza Strip aim to destroy the infrastructure of the Palestinian people in Gaza and undermine their steadfastness.Dr. Akhras appealed to the Red Cross and UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs to intervene to put an end to the killing of civilians and medical personnel in Gaza and to help the hospitals, medical centers and crew to fulfill their humanitarian duties.Palestinian interior minister Sa'eed Siyam called on the Red Cross and the international human rights organizations to shoulder their responsibilities towards the protection of headquarters and crews of civil defense and medical care.In a statement received by the PIC, Siyam said that Israel bombed most of the civil defense buildings and a number of fire trucks and ambulances. In another statement received by the PIC, the Palestinian health ministry called on the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the entry of volunteer doctors to Gaza in addition to the humanitarian aid sent by Arab states. In the same context, volunteer doctors and medical crews strongly criticized the Egyptian authorities for blocking their entry to Gaza over the past few days in order to provide Gaza people with medical care and assist in alleviating their tragedy.Arab and Greek doctors stated that there are many workers in the medical field from Europe and around the world who expressed willingness to join the other volunteers as soon as the Egyptian authorities open the Rafah border crossing. The Egyptian authorities have also refused to allow trucks carrying food and humanitarian aid into Gaza since the Israeli ground invasion started except for small quantities, which were handed manually through the main gate of the Rafah crossing.

Zionit soldiers not daring to leave tanks

Gaza! We will come!!

As the battle between Palestinian resisatnce and invading forces entered the fifth day, no Zionit soldier dares to leave tanks and armour vehicles, Abu Harun, a spokesman for Abu al-Rish Brigades affiliated to Fatah movement said on Wednesday."A number of Israeli soldiers moving amidst tanks have been shot dead by Palestinian fighters. The tanks were forced to withdraw," he added. The Israeli army targets Palestinian civilians to retaliate the heavy damages it sustained during clashes, Abu Harun said. "By now Palestinians have used only ten percents of their equipments in the clashes with the Israeli forces," he said reiterating, "If the occupiers want to continue their advance into the Gaza Strip, they will face heavier clashes.""All Palestinian resistance groups act in hramony with each other in the fight," he said.

Senior Zionite Army Official : Israel seeking a way out

Gaza! We will come!!

A senior Zionite army official has admitted that Tel Aviv may not be able to topple Hamas through a military campaign in the Gaza Strip. "It"s doubtful if it is possible to bring about regime change in the Gaza Strip solely by force," head of General Staff"s Operations Directorate Major General Tal Russo said in a Wednesday meeting with Tel Aviv"s senior military officials, Israeli daily Ha"aretz reported. "We are far from the ability to implement the optimal exit strategy from the Gaza Strip. This places a complicated dilemma before the government," he added. Despite acknowledging that a military offensive may not lead to the downfall of Hamas, the general said that an escalation of attacks against Gaza was an option. Russo also suggested signing a comprehensive security arrangement with Hamas, which could give Israel an opportunity to escape a disadvantageous military campaign. "When we look at the expectations of the operation and the ultimate situation in terms of cost and benefits, the conclusion will be not to embark on an operation before we look at the conditions for exit," he said. News of the meeting between Tel Aviv"s senior military officials came as the offensive in Gaza entered its thirteenth day, with the number of Palestinians killed at over 710 and the number of injured at more than 3,100. Although at the beginning of the Israeli onslaught against Gaza, Tel Aviv said that it was launching the raids to stop Palestinian rocket fire into Israel, it later announced that the main objective was to bring down the Hamas government in the coastal enclave. Hamas, which does not recognize Israel, came to power after winning the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) elections in January 2006. However, almost immediately after its democratic victory, the Hamas administration faced Western embargoes and threats of a coup. In mid 2007, Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas, who leads the rival Fatah faction, dissolved the government, replacing it with the Salam Fayyad administration without holding an election. Following the move Hamas took over Gaza and has since been in charge of the costal sliver. Israel began its military operation in Gaza just hours after a six-month ceasefire between the two sides ended on December 20. A week later, Tel Aviv launched an all-inclusive aerial bombardment of the strip -- which was later extended into a comprehensive ground incursion. So far, a handful of Israelis have been killed in Hamas rocket fire, which started after Tel Aviv"s initial deadly attack.

Nazal: Zionist regime has failed to gain goals

Gaza! We will come!!

The Zionist regime's goals had not been realized, a member of the Hamas political bureau, Mohammad Nazal said Wednesday night. In an interview with the Al-Aqsa TV network, Nazal said, "From the beginning of the regime's attacks on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Resistance, Ezzeddin Qassam Brigades in particular, struck heavy blows to the enemy."He said over 100 Israeli forces were killed since the start of Zionist's aggressions against Gaza."The enemy maintained it would end the Hamas rule in Gaza, however the attacks increased the popularity of Hamas so that it has stood its highest political, public and military position.""Destruction of the Resistance's might and assassination of its authorities was the second goal of the regime," he said adding the regime also failed to gain that goal."The Zionists also talked about the destruction of Hamas missile power, while as we see Grad and Qassam missiles as well as mortars hit exactly on the Zionist sites on a daily basis"Nazal added the Gazans, despite the toll they were suffering had no complaints and had underlined their trust in God and continuation of resistance. He further noted that any truce proposal must observe three elements including halt of the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian nation, withdrawal of the occupying forces from the Gaza Strip and lift of the siege of Gaza including by reopening the Rafah crossing."

Gaza! We will come!!

Sayyed Nasrallah Calls for Massive Rally

Gaza! We will come!!

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah called for a massive gathering in Beirut’s southern suburb to denounce the Israeli aggression on Gaza and to express solidarity with the Palestinian people. Sayyed Nasrallah was speaking through a large screen as he marked the first night of Ashoura at the Sayyed Shouhadaa complex in Dahiyeh. His eminence addressed the situation in Gaza and expressed deep regret at the Arab collusion “that is similar to the Arab collusion during the 2006 Israeli war on Lebanon.” “It is truly unfortunate to begin our Hijri new Year and Gregorian new year with a serious humanitarian calamity that has so far taken the lives of three hundred Palestinians in the besieged, oppressed yet resistant and steadfast Gaza Strip. Today, we might not need to speak about the notion as we are witnessing the model of a new Karbala. What is taking place today helps us more to understand history. Karbala’s reality is that a few believers had refused humiliation and yielding to tyrants. Those believers were to choose between humiliation and disproportionate confrontation that may lead to martyrdom, so they chose martyrdom. Imam Hussein peace be upon him created this model and said his famous words: We shall never be disgraced. It was not a matter of emotions, it was rather a matter of humanitarian and ideological commitment. This is the school of Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him in Karbala,” Sayyed Nasrallah explained. His eminence went on saying that this was the choice in Karbala “and this was the choice during the July 2006 war.” He told the resistance community in Lebanon that “when you were to choose between surrender and confrontation, you chose to stand up, thus refusing disgrace regardless of the tens of thousands of homes destroyed and the hundreds of martyrs and injured. You stood up against collusion, betrayal and disgrace and this is how blood conquered the sword.” The Hezbollah chief underlined that what is taking place in Gaza today was identical to what had taken place in Lebanon during the 2006 war. “It’s the same choices, the same collusion and inevitably the same consequence,” he said predicting victory in the end. “When the legitimate Prime Minister Ismail Haniyyeh come out from under the rubble and fire to say ‘we will not surrender and we will preserve our dignity…this is Karbala.”Sayyed Nasrallah openly spoke about the ongoing confrontation in Gaza. “Allow me to dot the i's and cross the t's, because we’re in dire need for the nation to shoulder its responsibility. What is taking place today in Gaza is similar to what had taken place in Lebanon; there is a US-Israeli scheme in the region and they want to impose humiliating conditions on the Palestinians, Lebanon and Syria after Egypt and Jordan made so called peace agreements with Israel. They are working on imposing these conditions by force, pressure, isolation, internal sedition, media and psychological wars, assassinations and wars. For them, it is essential to yield those who have not yet yielded t the US-Israeli scheme.”His eminence stressed some Arab regimes are partners in the scheme. “It is not true that there is Arab silence; there is real and complete partnership in this particularly the sides that signed agreements with Israel. They are working today on preparing the circumstances for the surrender of the resistance engaged in the Arab-Israeli conflict.”The Hezbollah chief revealed that the war of 2006 was waged with Arab consent and request. “The Israelis were crystal clear when they revealed this and those Arab regimes cannot deny this because the Israelis might possess evidence on their collusion. This is what is happening today in Gaza. Not only those same Arab regimes are demanding Israel cuts the heads of the resistance forces, in fact they are helping the Zionist entity on this. We have heard from Israel that the magnitude of the Arab support to the war on Gaza well exceeds their support to the Israeli war on Lebanon in 2006.”Sayyed Nasrallah also attributed the internal division in Palestine to the same Arab regimes that want division to become internal strife. He set as example the notorious decisions taken by the previous government in Lebanon against Hezbollah and a senior Muslim Shiite officer managing security at the airport on the fifth of May 2008 and which nearly dragged the country into civil war. “The previous government wouldn’t have taken those decisions on the fifth of May if it weren’t for the support of these Arab regimes. They don not feel embarrassed; they are convinced and committed to the scheme.” His eminence added that “even on the political and media levels, no one is asking Arab regimes to open its fronts and fight, but the least they could do is to take a fair stance by not holding the victim responsible.” “We have heard an Egyptian official blaming Hamas for the attack on Gaza. Can anyone believe that this is the position of an Arab official who said during the blockade of Gaza: ‘We’ll break the feet of anyone who will set foot in Egypt? Is this the stance of an Egyptian official in the wake of the slaughter of more than 300 Palestinians in a short period of time?” Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit warned Hamas that Israel’s attack will not stop unless the resistance group stops firing rockets at occupied territories.“Today we are hearing the same positions we heard in 2006 in terms of shouldering the resistance with the responsibility of breaking the war; this is shameful. Some Arab media outlets which should be called “Israeli media outlets” are dealing with the developments in Gaza as if the 300 martyrs were killed in a road accident; they broadcast the news and go back to regular programs as nothing is happening and the worst is that they insist on not calling those killed martyrs.” Sayyed Nasrallah said that the Gazans have made their choice and they are practicing it through martyrdom and resistance, “just as you did in 2006; nothing stopped you from clinging to your rights and to the resistance.” “What is the nation’s responsibility today? To triumph, the central objective is to work on stopping the aggression against Gaza and preventing the Israelis from achieving their goals. Arab peoples should press their governments to take action even if this leads to face their regimes with their chests. Those who would fall will definitely be martyrs on the road to Quds. Arab governments should not take weakness as a pretext not to act and Arab people should not take their government’s suppression as a pretext not to take action. In our present time, the US is in a financial crisis and we have oil, money and political stature and our governments can stop the Israeli aggression with a humble effort. The Egyptian stand is the cornerstone. No one is asking it to open a front; we are asking it to open the Rafah crossing for the living, for food, for water and even for arms. In the war of 2006, Syria did not close its border with Lebanon despite the continuous bombing of the border. Egypt is is the “Mother of the World”; it is not the ‘Red Crescent’ to deal with Gaza like this. Egypt is requested not to exploit the war to pressure Hamas to yield to Israel’s conditions. If Egypt did not open the Rafah crossing to Gaza, he added, it would be considered an accomplice in the killing of Palestinians and they (Egyptian officials) should know that they will be in the circle of condemnation if they do not rush to take an honorable stance.” The leader of the resistance urged the pride and noble people of Egypt “who we know what really lies in their hearts to take to the streets. If the people took to the streets by the millions, could the police kill millions of Egyptians? People of Egypt, you must open this crossing by the force of your chests," he said. “We know that Egyptian officers and soldiers adhere to their authentic Arab identity. I am not calling for a coup in Egypt, but those officers should tell their government that they are not with watching the Palestinian people being slaughtered while they guard Israel’s border. No one is justified today; the Egyptian stand can change the situation. If Gaza was steadfast for a few days or weeks, the aggression will eventually end because the Israeli enemy cannot tolerate war of attrition and will be forced to stop and abandon its goals.”Sayyed Nasrallah criticized the sides that are calling for a fair and comprehensive peace with Israel. “I ask them: what has Israel given you except for more humiliation and more conditions? The Palestinians did not gain from Camp David the least rights to save face. It is really silly to believe that the international community will protect us through international resolutions, none of which was implemented by Israel. You say that Arab solidarity will protect us? Where is this Arab solidarity and they could not agree on a summit to address the situation in Gaza because of (Egyptian) reservations? What really protects our peoples and gains back our rights is the sincere resistance and everything else is mere illusion.” As for Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah continued, “since the aggression on Gaza began, Barak, Livni and Olmert have been sending warnings to Lebanon and the Israeli army has been stepping up measures on the border and calling on settlers in the north to prepare their shelters. Hearing this, there are two options: the first is that everything the Israelis are saying and doing is in the framework of a pre-emptive measure; and the second is that they are planning for something. We should be aware that this bad timing amid Arab collusion, international void, economic crisis and US political vacuum between Bush and Obama, might allure Israel to take a certain action against Lebanon especially that they need to make such move for political and electoral gains. This requires Lebanon to be cautious and not to underestimate what it happening around it. For instance, who placed the eight rockets discovered lately in the south? Some politicians in Lebanon have been pointing their fingers at us. But I tell them that Hezbollah has enough courage to take responsibility for any action it takes. On the other hand, isn’t it true that Israel has the capacity to infiltrate into Lebanon and plant these rockets, or maybe use its agents in Lebanon to do this job so that the Zionist entity would be justified to attack Lebanon? Unfortunately, some Lebanese politicians are giving Israel this pretext through their silly statements. I have asked the brothers in the resistance in the south specifically to be present, on alert and cautious because we are facing a criminal enemy and we don't know the magnitude of the conspiracies being weaved around us."Sayyed Nasrallah concluded his speech by calling on the Lebanese, Arabs and Muslims to act responsibly at this stage and exert every effort to stop the aggression on Gaza. “Imam Sayyed Khamenei has called for mourning on Monday. We are concerned in this. For my part, I invite you to gather tomorrow at 1500 (local time) at the Raya field, men and women, young and old, to consolidate with Gaza and the martyrs. We have to make the whole hear our voice and see our fists rising. Tomorrow is Ashoura as well because every day is Ashoura and every land in Karbala.”

Israel, Arabs seek divided Gaza

Gaza! We will come!!

Hezbollah's Secretary General has urged Hamas to strike Israel and compared what is happening in Gaza with Israel's July 2006 assault on Lebanon. "Our brothers in the resistance in Palestine know that it is by inflicting the biggest possible losses on the Israeli enemy during the ground confrontation that they will win the battle," Nasrallah said. "It is when the resistance kills soldiers and destroys tanks that the course of the battle will be determined," he added. Sayyed Nasrallah was speaking through a large screen as he marked the seventh night of Ashura at the Sayyed Shohada complex in Beirut's southern suburb, Dahiyeh on Saturday. He said that the Israeli incursions into Gaza were aimed at physically dividing Gaza and imposing a new status quo in the besieged strip. He emphasized that what had been taking place and would take place during the few coming hours is identical to what took place during the last days of the July war. "This is not new, we experienced it in 2006 in Lebanon and we were able to overcome it," Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said. "The Israeli government is seeking to impose a new status quo and create new data to be exploited in a potential international resolution." The Hezbollah leader said a decision by Arab foreign ministers this week to take the Gaza issue to the UN Security Council next Monday is meant to give Israel more time to accomplish its mission and destroy Hamas. "Arab foreign ministers gave Israel until Monday to proceed with its military attacks on Gaza." He added that if the Israelis failed to achieve their mission by Monday, then the Arab leaders might also want to extend the 'grace period for the enemy.' On Friday, Seyyed Nasrallah had slammed Arab leaders for their stance over the aggression, calling on them to, at least, let their people express themselves freely and declare solidarity with their Palestinian brothers. Nasrallah's remarks come as Israel entered Gaza after pounding the densely populated impoverished strip after eight days of heavy air and sea bombardment that has left 460 people dead and 2,600 wounded

Israeli, International & Arab Conspiracy is to Eliminate the Palestinian Cause

Gaza! We will come!!

the current situation in Gaza is very similar to Lebanon July war in 2006 where "Israel" launched an aggression against Lebanon under an international and Arab umbrella.the main aim of this "Israeli", international and Arab conspiracy is to eliminate the Palestinian cause.

Global Anti-Israeli Protests Continue

Gaza! We will come

Israel's incursions on Gaza have sparked protests all over the world with demonstrators calling for an immediate ceasefire in various countries. indignation at Israeli attacks and empathy with Gaza residents brought thousands of people in Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, and New Zealand to the streets. More than 1,000 demonstrators marched through the centre of New Zealand's capital Wellington today to protest Israel's incursion on Gaza. The protesters urged the New Zealand government to take a tougher stance against the Israeli army's incursion. Addressing the protesters, Green Party legislator Keith Locke said the people of New Zealand wanted their government to take action. "I ask Murray McCully [NZ FM] how many bodies of children sticking out of the ruins, how many homes being destroyed, does it take till he will criticize directly what the Israeli government is doing to the people of Gaza," Locke said. In Thailand, protesters from Muslim communities and Islamic organizations gathered outside the Israeli embassy to voice their anger over the massacre. "These murderous acts should be stopped immediately. Stop arguing that this is a self defenses or for any other reasons. They should stop further death of the people," said Suvit Satsanapichit, a leader of Thailand's Muslims for Peace. Australian Jews also could not stand the unfair attacks. Demonstrators including two award-winning novelists and a former federal cabinet minister have signed a statement denouncing Israel's siege of Gaza, heightening tensions within the local Jewish community over the violence. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd called yesterday for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza but refused to criticize the Israeli aggression. Dozens of demonstrators have held a noisy protest outside the Israeli embassy in the Philippine capital Manila over Israeli offensive in Gaza. The protesters called Israel a puppet of the United States and hoisted posters of dead Palestinian children on Tuesday. Despite pro-Gaza protests across the world, the Israeli regime remains defiant of mounting calls for an end to its attacks on the populated coastal strip where an Israeli blockade has starved 1.5 people almost to death. The Palestinian death toll rose to 590 early on Tuesday as Israel's offensive on Gaza enters the 11th day with more than 3000 people wounded in Israeli gunship fire and plane bombings.

Palestinian blows up Israeli tank

Gaza! We will come

A Palestinian fighter has blown up an Israeli army tank, killing himself in the incident, a spokesman for the Hamas military wing says. "The Israeli tank blew up in an Estishhadi Operation (one that seeks martyrdom)," said Abu Obaida, a Hamas military wing spokesman, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas Al-Aqsa TV station reported Tuesday that seven Israeli tanks were also hit by Hamas resistance fighters. The Gaza Strip has come under massive Israeli fire since December 27, when Tel Aviv launched a military campaign to put an end to rocket attacks against southern Israel. The Hamas movement, the democratically-elected government of the strip, demands a cessation of Israeli attacks and the opening of the Gaza border -- which has been closed due to the 18-month Israeli blockade. According to medics, at least 635 Palestinians have been killed and 3,040 others are wounded in the 11-day Israeli operation.

Israel: No worries about our image

Gaza! We will come

Israel has rejected world appeals for a halt in violence and continues its air strikes and ground operations in the Gaza Strip. Israeli President Shimon Peres says Tel Aviv has no qualms about its public image despite world condemnation of its assault on Gaza. Peres on Tuesday brushed aside an EU warning that Israel would "destroy" its image if it fails to pay heed to international appeals and immediately halt its incursion into the Gaza Strip. "Europe must open its eyes. We are not in the business of public relations or improving our image. We are fighting against terror, and we have every right to defend our citizens," Peres said. Tel Aviv waged war on the Gaza Strip on December 27 and began what it claims to be a "long-lasting" ground invasion of the area on Saturday night. So far the Israeli aggression has killed 604 Gazans and wounded 3040 others -- a large number of whom are civilians. "We have met with the heads of international humanitarian organizations and delegations, and we were told that there is a serious problem in Gaza of distributing the delegations' shipments," EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferraro-Waldner said on Tuesday. According to Ferraro-Waldner, Israel has "a serious problem with international advocacy" and its actions against the 1.5 million people residing in Gaza are "disproportionate". Although Tel Aviv has stepped up efforts to downplay the humanitarian situation in the blockaded region, a large number of UN officials and aid workers have warned that the Palestinian territory is spiraling into a critical state. "I think it's a monstrosity; there's no other way to name it," said UN General Assembly chief Miguel d'Escoto on Saturday, shortly after Washington blocked a UN Security Council resolution against Israel. The statement would have called on Israel to end its ground incursion into the region. The two previous UN draft resolutions seeking an end to the violence in the region have also been blocked by Washington. The United States has so far vetoed over 40 anti-Israel resolutions at the UN. Peres even attempted to shift the blame onto Tehran, saying that Israel was "fighting a comprehensive war against murderous terror, which is of Iran's making." The Israeli military operation in Gaza comes six weeks before the upcoming Israeli elections scheduled for February 10. Although Israeli echelons claim that the operation has nothing to do with election politics, a recent survey has revealed that the offensive bodes well for Kadima and Likud, respectively headed by Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the latest of a series which began when world powers created Israel in 1948 under the Zionist slogan of a 'land without a people and a people without a land'. The establishment of Israel in the Middle East was carried out in compensation for the hardships and suffering imposed on the Jews of Europe due to anti-Semitism in the continent. Zionists benefited by gaining power over the native land of the Palestinians, but the establishment and the subsequent terror attacks against the Palestinian population gave rise to the philosophy of resistance and in recent years armed retaliation. According to Tel Aviv, however, the war on Gaza is aimed at ending rocket attacks against Israeli settlers, toppling Hamas and preventing the resistance group from rearming. Hamas, on the other hand, demands a cessation of Israeli attacks and the opening of the Gaza border -- which has been closed due to the 18-month blockade imposed on the strip by Tel Aviv.

Israeli fighters penetrate into Lebanon

Gaza! We will come

Israeli warplanes have reportedly overflown southern Lebanon amid speculation that Tel Aviv may be seeking to provoke Hezbollah. The warplanes overflew the Lebanese port city of Sidon on Tuesday morning, a Press TV correspondent reported. Tel Aviv has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of making preparations to attack Israel to avenge the murder of its commander Imad Mughniyeh. Mughniyeh was killed in a car bomb attack in Damascus last year. This comes as Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Hoballah has affirmed that the Lebanese movement has no intention to go to war despite "the recent propaganda against it". He warned, however, that Hezbollah would defend Lebanon if Israel were to invade his country. Tel Aviv launched a massive onslaught against the Gaza Strip on December 27 and put its army personnel stationed along the Lebanese border on high alert earlier this week. Israeli forces crossed the border into the Gaza Strip late Saturday night and launched a ground incursion into the densely populated region. The offensive has so far left over 584 Palestinians killed and 3000 others wounded.

Tel Aviv holds emergency meeting on Gaza

Gaza! We will come

Tel Aviv is to hold an emergency meeting about the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip which has so far killed almost 500 Palestinians. The Israeli troops launched a ground offensive against Gaza on Saturday night, following consecutive air strikes on more than 900 targets in strip. Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade, & Labor Eliyahu Eli Yishai Said, "Israel should crush Hamas," the Israeli Walla website quoted Israel Army Radio as saying on Sunday. Hamas however has warned Israel against the attacks, declaring that "We have prepared the statement of victory". The recent ground operation engaged Palestinian fighters against the Israeli army in four spots in the north, around Gaza City, Beit Hanun, Beit Lahiya and Jabaliya. Reports say Israelis have suffered heavy casualties due to the strong resistance of the Palestinian fighters. But Israeli officials have confirmed that only 30 soldiers have been wounded -two of them in critical condition. Gaza resistance fighters have also been retaliating by firing ten more rockets into Israeli cities despite intensified air and ground strikes on the coastal strip which Israel says are aimed at halting rocket firings. Two of the rockets were fired into western Negev and three hit Sderot city, according to Press TV correspondent. The week-long violence in the enclave has claimed lives of almost 500 Palestinians, injuring over 2700 others including women and children.

Did the IAF Really Bomb a Gazan Grad Truck?

Gaza! We will come

Just before midnight, on December 29, the Israel military Spokesman"s Office posted an urgent headline on its Web site: Truck packed with weapons attacked near Jabalya. The subheadline went on to read: "At around 6 P.M., the Israel Air Force attacked a Hamas truck carrying dozens of Grad rockets."According to the article, the rockets in the truck caused a secondary explosion, shooting pieces of weaponry in all directions. The rockets were being transferred, said the article, due to militants" fear that their present storehouse would be attacked by the IAF, as well as to be put to use for launching at Israel. The article was accompanied by a video just over 2 minutes showing the IAF"s perspective from the sky, until just a moment before the explosion. The video shows 15 white figures casually milling between two vehicles. Three long black objects appear between their hands and the white figures lay these objects down on what seems to be a truck. The second vehicle takes off at a certain point and suddenly an explosion sounds and flames cover the screen. An eyewitness said the explosion was caused by an overhead drone.Human rights groups" investigations, however, present a different testimony altogether.According to B"tselem and the Mezan center for human rights, the truck belongs to Ahmed Samur, 55, and is still standing, burnt, beside his workshop in the Jabaliya refugee camp. Next to it hang scorched oxygen balloons, a blade and cables. Nobody dares move the truck or the accompanying accoutrements for fear that the UAVs filming every detail from above will bomb whoever approaches."Everything is still there on the ground," said Samur on Thursday. "We only moved the dead."Just three hours before the attack, Samur"s daughter told him that she had heard on the local radio that a house next to his workship had been bombed. He immediately got into his Mercedes truck, along with his son and a few neighbors and relatives, and went to the workshop to see the damage. They were shocked to discover that the neighboring house had collapsed onto his workshop and decided to pack up the expensive tools and take them home before they could be looted. On the first round, they brought home a drill, a welding torch, a scale, other tools and a gas balloon for cooking. Then they went back to the workshop to pack up the rest: three of six oxygen balloons used for welding, two jerrycans filled with benzene and two filled with diesel. As Samir"s son Imad organized the tools in the truck, his brother-in-law packed his own smaller car with 50 packages of welding electrodes, 4 kilograms each, and drove off.Samur himself stood on the other side of the street to keep the dust particles from the burning nearby house from flying into his lungs. He looked at the youths packing the truck and was reminded of working bees in a honeycomb - this was just before 5 P.M., he estimates."Suddenly I saw a flash of light next to my truck and then it caught fire and I heard the sound of an explosion. I started to run toward the blast, and when I got close and the smoke cleared, I saw bodies, one of them belonging to my son Imad. I fainted. When I woke up they told me that Imad and the seven other young people who were helping him had been killed," he recounted.Speaking to Haaretz by phone, Samur said: "These were not Hamas, they were our children, and I will tell you their names. Imad Samur, 32; Ashraf al-Dabar, 30; Mahmoud Rabayan, 15; Rami Rabayan, 23; Ahmed Hila, 19; Mohammed Mahdi, 17; Wissam Eid, 14; Mohammed Haber, 20. Four others were hurt, two of them seriously: Bilal Rabayan, 19 and his brother Baha, 16."You have experts and smart people in Israel," he said. "They should come and check my truck and the oxygen balloons. They should see that they were not Grad missiles and they were not anything else. You people are saying they burnt a big truck filled with Grads. Well come and see for yourself."Haaretz asked the IDF spokesperson if the video depicts the truck in question, and was told "the truck"s contents were taken from a building that was housing ammunition and rockets."No one in Gaza has denied that Qassams are being manufactured and launched from the Strip, but there are many targets hit by the IAF whose military importance is unclear at best. For instance, a small, empty building in the middle of a playground in the Shabura refugee camp in Rafah which was blown up by the IAF two days ago, in an attack that left two dead.Mezan said the unending IAF attacks have made it very difficult to determine how many of the targets hit were military and which were civilian.

Erdogan: Allah Will Punish Israel For Inhuman Deeds

Gaza! We will come

Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday warned that Israel was committing "inhuman" deeds in Gaza that will cause it to self-destruct.In an interview with Al Jazeera television network, the Turkish prime minister said Israel hurt its relations with Turkey by attacking Gaza, and will not go unpunished. In the wake of his visit to the Middle East on Monday, Erdogan voiced his support of Gaza and said Turkey would act as a mediator between Hamas and the United Nations Security Council. He further stressed that Israel was responsible for violating the six-month cease-fire with Hamas by keeping the coastal strip blockaded."Allah will sooner or later punish those who transgress the rights of innocents," Erdogan said. His recent tour of the Middle East skipped Israel despite the bilateral ties both countries enjoy. The Turkish leader has made extremely critical comments about Operation Cast Lead since it began, and last Saturday characterized Israel's aerial attacks in Gaza as a "crime against humanity." In addition, he said the operation, which began four days after a visit to Ankara by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, "is disrespect to Turkey."Meanwhile, The UN chief on Monday urged the divided Security Council to work toward a speedy end to the escalating crisis in Gaza and planned to meet Monday with Arab ministers flying to New York to press for an immediate halt to the violence. Late Saturday, the United States, Israel’s closest ally, blocked approval of a Security Council statement calling for an immediate cease-fire and expressing serious concern at the escalating situation in Gaza.

Israel Seeks to Exploit Delay, Impose New Status Quo

Gaza! We will come

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah renewed on Saturday the comparison between what had been happening in Gaza during the few previous hours and the Israeli July 2006 against Lebanon, expressing belief that the Palestinian Resistance had actually learned from Lebanon's Resistance and would do well. His eminence said that a new victory was being for the Resistance approach would be achieved. Sayyed Nasrallah was speaking through a large screen as he marked the seventh night of Ashoura at the Sayyed Shouhadaa complex in Beirut's southern suburb (Dahiyeh). His eminence declared that Israeli incursions in Gaza were aimed at slicing Gaza and imposing a new status quo in the besieged strip. "This is not new, we experienced it in 2006 in Lebanon and we were able to overcome it," Sayyed Nasrallah said, noting that the incursions were benefiting from the delay given to Israeli officials to accomplish their mission. On Friday, Sayyed Nasrallah criticized the Arab leaders for their stance over the aggression, calling on them to, at least, let their people express themselves freely and declare solidarity with their Palestinian brothers. "Arab FMs Gave Israel Until Monday to Achieve Mission," his eminence declared, noting at the same time that, if the Israelis failed to achieve the recommended mission by Monday, "then this doesn't mean that they won't be given another delay."Meanwhile, the Resistance leader emphasized that what had been taking place and would take place during the few coming hours is identical to what took place during the last days of the July war. "The Israeli government is seeking to impose a new status quo and create new data to be exploited in a potential international resolution," his eminence explained.Sayyed Nasrallah assured Palestinians and Arabs, stressing that whenever there is Resistance against the ground operation, then it would be able to change everything on the ground. Sayyed Nasrallah reiterated that bargaining on the Resistance's defeat will fail, calling on the whole nation to unite against the aggression. "What's taking place in Gaza is defense of all the Arabs' and their convictions," his eminence said, calling upon everyone to bet on the Resistance, its will and determination. His eminence said that there was no logic in the Zionist entity's policy, recalling that the entity that adopted tyranny since its creation has actually displaced and forced the Palestinian nation to leave their land.Sayyed Nasrallah began his speech by exploring furthermore the notion of human responsibility in life. His eminence stressed that people were responsible of all their acts, rejecting all claims of "forcing" or "obliging" people to achieve specific things or oppressing and treating unjustly others. The Resistance leader also pointed to the principle of Jihad and fighting in general. "Fighting under the rule of one plus one equals two might not lead to an outcome," his eminence said, stressing on the importance of the religious factor in this context. "God will give you the support and assistance," his eminence noted. Sayyed Nasrallah criticized the phenomenon of predictions and expectations, witnessed on TVs mainly at the New Year's Eve. "We believe that movement of planets, astronomy and orbits have no effect in the human's fate and destiny," his eminence stressed.

A world without humanity!

Gaza! We will come

Their eyes full of hate,
It’s a cruel fate!

Their acts worse than a wolf,
As if they play golf!

Just like an angry lion,
To claw they had yen!

They’ve lost human dignity,
But don’t feel guilty!

As the best in creation,
With steely determination,
With no consideration,
Without hesitation,
Raided kids’ shelter,
As if it’s a lair of a tiger!

The most innocent ones,
Were killed by their guns.

A babe slaughtered in the cradle of a mom,
A mom butchered in front of her infant son!

It’s a bloody fest,
I beat my breast!

In the dead of the night,
The world keeps their eyes shut tight!

No one hears their voice,
They have no choice!

Thieves occupied their land,
No one took them in hand!

They were attacked by the occupiers,
They were dislodged by the usurpers,
But nothing was said,
And nothing was heard!

All were in silence,
They were on the fence.

Then to bring an end,
To the occupation,
They try to defend,
Against the aggression!

It looked dire,
Can’t fight fire with fire.

One soldier killed on the one hand,
300 civilians martyred on the other hand!

It’s the law of the jungle,
But we are human, well!

Where are the defenders of human rights?
With all their might, they just sit tight!

Hey! Wake up,
Come on and get up,
Someone is clipping another’s wings,
They act like the jungle kings,
As the best in being,
Let’s be on the wing.

195 children have been killed in Israel’s war on Gaza: medics

Gaza! We will come

So far 195 children have been in the Israeli blitz on the Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical officials say.
Gaza health officials say that since the onslaught began on Dec. 27 more than 550 Palestinians have been killed and 2,500 wounded.

Televised images of wounded and murdered civilians, especially children, have caused outrage across the world, especially the Islamic world.

Eleven members of one family, including five children, were killed in a northern Gaza City neighborhood early Monday morning after Israeli soldiers ordered them to leave their home, medical officials said.

Civilian deaths are likely to rise as the Israeli forces move in on the narrow city streets and refugee camp alleys.

"Usually you have people trying to flee the area of conflict," said John Ging, the head of the United Nations refugee agency in the Gaza Strip. "But they don't have this choice in Gaza because they are trapped in a very, very densely populated area."

Backed by the U.S., the Israeli leaders have so far refused international calls to stop the war on the densely populated, starved and besieged coastal strip.

On Monday, Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert rebuffed pleas by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and a European delegation to call a temporary halt to war to head off a deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

On Saturday, the U.S. blocked an effort by the UN Security Council to issue a statement calling for a ceasefire.

UN humanitarian chief John Holmes has called the Gaza strife an "increasingly alarming" humanitarian crisis. He said Gaza is running low on clean water, power, food, medicine and other supplies since Israel began its offensive.

The Israeli army is pounding Gaza from the air, land, and sea.

A three-person European Union delegation also met Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni Monday to call for an immediate cease-fire.

"We are not sharing the view that the cease-fire is only possible if all possible aims of the Israeli action are achieved," said Karel Schwarzenberg , the foreign minister of the Czech Republic , which became the leader of the 27-member body last week.

According to the Time magazine, since Israel began a ground offensive on Saturday night, most of the dead and wounded arriving at Shifa Hospital in Gaza are civilians, as Israel's offensive shifts from airstrikes to artillery shelling and fighting close to densely populated areas.

An Associated Press reporter also said that all the injured brought to Shifa on Monday were civilians. Shifa is the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip.

Israel claims it is targeting only the Hamas fighters. But the 550 Palestinians who have been killed include at least 200 civilians, according to Dr. Moaiya Hassanein of the Gaza Health Ministry.

On Monday, 20 children between the ages of 2 and 15 were killed, he said. Since the military offensive began Dec. 27, three Israeli civilians have been killed.

In fighting that raged early Tuesday morning, at least 18 people were killed in shelling up and down the strip, local hospital officials said. Only two could be confirmed as militants, AP reported.

Three brothers died in an attack on a town outside Gaza City, a Gaza health official said. They were carried to a cemetery in an emotional funeral. One of them, Issa Samouni, 3, was wrapped in a white cloth, showing only his pale, yellow face. A man delicately placed him in a dark grave cut into the earth.

Turkey: No justification for Israeli ‘savage’ acts in Gaza

Gaza! We will come

as the death toll has exceeded 580 including more than 100 children.
"What reason can justify such savagery?" Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Justice and Development Party in Parliament.

He said the offensive was a bid by the Israeli leadership to score points ahead of general elections in February, AFP reported.

Referring to the Israeli ministers of defense and foreign affairs, Erdogan said: "I am telling Ehud Barak and (Tzipi) Livni to forget about the elections, because history will judge them for the black stain they are leaving on humanity."

Erdogan said Hamas "has also made mistakes." However, he insisted that the Israeli response was disproportionate.

Israel still prevents journalists entering Gaza

Gaza! We will come

Israel on Tuesday maintained a ban on journalists entering the Gaza Strip to cover the war which has left at least 580 Palestinians including more than 100 children dead and 2,500 injured.
International media cover the war through Palestinian reporters based in Gaza.

The Foreign Press Association (FPA) made a strong protest over the ban, AFP reported.

Israel's Supreme Court ordered the government on Friday to allow foreign reporters into the Gaza Strip and eight names were chosen for the first group to go in.

"The unprecedented denial of access to Gaza for the world's media amounts to a severe violation of press freedom and puts the state of Israel in the company of a handful of regimes around the world which regularly keep journalists from doing their jobs," said
an FPA statement.

40 killed in attack on UN school in Gaza

Gaza! We will come

At least 40 people were killed and 55 injured when Israeli artillery shells landed outside a UN school in Gaza.
A number of children were among those who died when the al-Fakhura school in the Jabaliya refugee camp was hit, doctors at nearby hospitals said.

Earlier, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) warned of a "full-blown humanitarian crisis" in Gaza.

Speaking on Tuesday, a senior ICRC official, Pierre Kraehenbuhl, said life in Gaza had become intolerable.

Palestinian Health Ministry officials say 660 people have been killed since the attacks began, 195 of them children, BBC reported.

About 350 people had sought refuge at the school in an effort to escape the fighting.

The UN officials said they regularly provided the Israeli military with exact coordinates of their facilities, and that the school was in a built-up area.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he was "deeply dismayed" that despite these efforts, three UN-run schools had been hit by nearby Israeli strikes.

70,000 Iranians Volunteer to Fight Israel

Gaza! We will come

Volunteer groups have made similar requests in the past and the government never responded. Student leader Esmaeil Ahmadi said the students want to fight Israel in support of Hamas. Five student groups and a conservative clerical group launched the registration drive for martyrdom-seeking volunteers last week and asked the government to allow them to stage the attacks. In an open letter to Ahmadinejad, the students said "volunteer student martyrdom-seeking groups ... are determined to go to Gaza. You are expected to issue orders to the relevant authorities to pave the way for such action." The students started signing up volunteers after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued a religious decree Dec. 28 saying anyone killed while defending Palestinians in Gaza against Israeli attacks would be considered a martyr. Ayatollah Khamenei's religious decree was not considered a government decision and did not oblige the government to launch attacks against Israel. At a gathering two days later in Tehran, students distributed registration forms. Israel's bombardment of Gaza, which has killed hundreds of Palestinians, has outraged many in Iran and throughout the rest of the Muslim world. On Dec. 30, dozens of Iranian students broke into the British Embassy residence in Tehran, condemning Britain's support for the Israeli air assault that started Dec. 27. The students pulled down the British flag and raised a Palestinian flag at the compound's entrance before police forced them to leave. The protest lasted about half an hour, and no injuries were reported.

Venezuela Expels Israeli Envoy after Gaza Invasion

Gaza! We will come

Some personnel at the embassy in Caracas also must leave, Venezuela's foreign ministry said in a statement. President Hugo Chavez said yesterday that Israel's fight against Hamas was "genocidal" and had the support of President George W. Bush. "If there's any shame in the world, the president of Israel should be taken to the International Criminal Court along with the president of the United States," Chavez said today in comments broadcast by state television. "How much are the Palestinian children suffering?" Calls to the Israeli embassy in Venezuela weren't answered. The Venezuelan foreign ministry's statement didn't specify how many staff members from the embassy would be expelled. Governments across Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, have condemned the violence in the Middle East and called for an end to fighting. Israeli forces struck a school run by the United Nations in the Gaza Strip this week, killing at least 30 Palestinians, according to Christopher Gunness, a spokesman for the UN Relief and Works in Jerusalem. Several mosques and schools have been struck since Israel began an assault on Gaza 14 days ago. At least 670 Palestinians have died in the conflict and 2,950 have been wounded, said Mu'awia Hassanein, chief of emergency medical services in Gaza. Six Israeli soldiers have been killed since the ground fighting began, the Zionist army said. French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who has been lobbying throughout the Middle East for a cease-fire, said the casualties at the school demonstrate the urgent need to stop the fighting. All branches of the Venezuelan government showed support for Palestinians today. Lawmaker Cilia Flores, president of the National Assembly, along with several other lawmakers, wore a traditional keffiyeh cloth during today's session. "In this tragic and upsetting moment, the Venezuelan people communicate their unconditional solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people," the foreign ministry's statement said. A dispute between Chavez and Israel may make it more difficult for US President-elect Barack Obama to improve relations with Venezuela. The socialist South American leader has accused the US of supporting opposition groups in Venezuela, and in September expelled the US ambassador in Caracas. "It will be much harder for Obama to extend a generous olive branch after this, because pro-Israel sections of the Democratic and Republican parties aren't going to be happy," a political analyst said.
